How we make that happen? First and foremost, communication.

Once you're confirmed with the team, we send over our H+MU Questionnaire for you to work on throughout your wedding planning process. We consider it “fun homework” and hope you enjoy filling it out as much as we love reading through your responses! (yes, we are total beauty nerds). But you’ll see, it’s a great tool that helps us learn a little more about you and your beauty goals + interests. Setting you up for a successful Preview Session (A.K.A. Trial) is our top priority. Your thoughtful answers and inspo photos are a helpful jumping off point when it's time to curate your unique hair and makeup look.

We consider our preview session to be like a dress rehearsal before the big show. That’s why we schedule them closer to the wedding (about 6-10 weeks prior). At this point, all of the big ticket items have been finalized and any stress from planning has passed.

NOW is the time to take a deep breath, relax, and focus on yourself and your beauty. It’s also why we don’t love the term, “trial.” We aren’t simply trialing a look you found on pinterest (that’s most likely filtered, airbrushed, or maybe even AI). Instead, starting with our in-person discussion and reviewing the questionnaire you’ve been working on for the past few months, we offer experienced feedback, ideas, and guidance.

We encourage minimal or maximum involvement - it’s all about what feels right to you. As you can see, our preview experience starts from the moment you sign the contract and receive our Questionnaire. Also, it doesn’t end when you walk out of our studio. You’ll receive a follow up email checking in to see how your look lasted throughout the day and into the night. We always encourage feedback after living in the look. That way we can edit accordingly and ensure everything is exactly as you’d like it to be for the wedding.

You’ll leave our studio with a little extra pep in your step and at least 50 airdropped photos + videos of you from every angle. Apologies in advance, I can’t help myself. From a very young age, I have always loved taking photos (fun fact: I majored in commercial photography!) so just a heads up, that’ll happen.

Ok. there’s more. Our Wedding Day Timeline questionnaire comes next. It’s much less involved, promise! You or your planner will fill in the answers so we can draw up a H+MU schedule that offers the amount of prep time we require and fits within the time requests from your photographer/planner.

Once the schedule + timeline for the day is confirmed, we send over our Final Info Form with ALL of your information in one beautiful place. Our Final Info Form is my favorite form of all, in case you were wondering.

Every important location, phone #, start + end time, welcome party schedule (if applicable), your trial photos, any notes/edits from you, notes/edits from the team, your H+MU schedule, artist Day-of-Contact info, remaining balance — you get the idea — is on this form. It’s a live document, as is all of our forms, so we can always adjust at any point and both you and our team will have the update.

Last but not least, once everything is triple confirmed and payment is received, we send you our very detailed H+MU Prep List for you to share with anyone receiving services from our team.

Your mom asks you if she should arrive with her hair wet or dry. Your friend has curly hair and wants to know if she can use her natural curls in the up-style. Your sister has a favorite eye shadow she MUST use. Everyone is wondering what they should do about lips! (PS: we make our own line of custom Pre-Dame Beauty lips so each person receives one to keep!) All of these answers and more can be found in this handy prep email.

Rest assured, most of this communication happens in the 3-4 months leading up to the wedding. Once you’ve signed the contract + submitted the deposit, we leave you alone for quite awhile. We will send a “friendly reminder” to get working on your H+MU Questionnaire if we haven’t seen it completed but hopefully you’ll be happy it’s finally time to jump into all-things-beauty!
